SHIRLEY HOLLOWAY, Ph.D., Commissioner, Department of Education,                
presented an overview of the Department of Education and answered              
the committee's questions.                                                     
                                                                               
NANCY BUELL, Director, Teaching and Learning Division, Department              
of Education, discussed student achievement and school criteria.               
                                                                               
RICHARD CROSS, Deputy Commissioner, Office of the Commissioner,                
Department of Education, answered the committee's questions.
